About the NW Center
for Children's Literature
Mission
The Mission of the Northwest Center for Children’s Literature (NWCCL) is to support teaching, learning, and research by providing access to quality children’s and young adult literature and related resources.
Purposes
- To make available preview collections of children’s and young adult books from the most recent three (3) years of publishing;
- To provide information and consultation to librarians, educators, early childhood day care providers, students, parents, authors, booksellers and others in the Northwest;
- To bring together experts in the field of children’s and young adult literature to share their expertise and knowledge and inspire the love of literacy;
- To assist educators and others in integrating literature throughout their curricula and their professional practice;
- To promote the value and importance of a lifelong appreciation of reading;
- To provide permanent collections of distinguished contemporary, historic and retrospective books for children and young adults.
Location
The Center is currently located on the second floor of the Main Library at Concordia University in NE Portland (2811 NE Holman Street, Portland Oregon, 97211). The Main Library occupies the bulk of the Hagen Center located in the middle of the campus.
